Explore Lefkada

Between Kefalonia and Corfu the island of Lefkada is a unique island and is characterized as the most graphic from the islands of Ionian. The channel which separates the island from the rest of Greece was first dugged out by the Corinthians on 5th century B.C. in which time the island’s economy had flourished and enables the island to participate on the Persians wars. You can come to Lefkada by car from Athens, using the national road Athens-Patra. Then, near Patra, you cross the Rio-Antirrio bridge and continue driving in the Sterea Ellada district, heading to Amfilohia. You will use a part of the new Ionian road, bypassing Agrinio in this way. When you reach Amfilohia, you follow the sign to Lefkada and after 60km you will be in Lefkada.

If you are coming to Lefkada from North Greece you need to follow Egnatia Road. When you reach Ioannina head for Preveza and then go under the tunnel bridge Preveza-Aktio. Follow the signs to Lefkada and you will reach your destination after 20km.

You can even come to Lefkada by bus using KTEL from Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra, Preveza, Igoumenitsa and Agrinio.

The nearest air way to Lefkada is 15km away, using the Preveza-Lefkada-Aktio airport. Domestic flights connect this airport to the airport of Athens, Sitia-Crete and other Ionian islands such as Corfu, Kefallonia and Zakynthos. Of course, there are direct connections to many European destinations through charter flights.
